First off, condolences to the family and friends of the Prescott Hot Shot Team. If you haven’t heard, 19 of Prescott’s best died in a wildfire last night.

This morning as I headed to the gym for my workout, I noticed a strange haziness in the air. On my iPad, I had received a dust storm warning for Flagstaff from Intellicast.com. I can’t find any sign of the full warning from the National Weather Service. Putting it together this morning, I think a dust storm, or at least the dust from a dust storm, moved into our area around 2 or 3 am. As I drove from Phoenix to Flagstaff yesterday afternoon, when we hit rain, the rain left a haze on my windows.

Dewpoint temperature have exceeded the 54 degrees F in Tucson and 55 degrees F in Phoenix. Three straight days with maximums above this level will mark the climatological start of the monsoon season. We have elevated precipitation outlooks for the rest of this week.
