This seem to be firming up around a 3 storm situation. Each round seems to be centered around Friday night/Saturday morning, Saturday night/Sunday and then Monday and Tuesday. NOGAPS models aren’t showing a huge amounts of precipitation, yet. Somehow, they managed to run their GFS model backwards yesterday afternoon. Pretty funny, some junior officer probably thought it was funny. The first round looks to be in the 3-6 inch range. The later rounds are still fuzzy. I think the second round will be around 6 inches.Keep in mind that Thursday evening forecasts can shift dramatically. The Shark Oil Baraometer has been getting progressively cloudier this week.
The National Weather Service really went all out on their prognostication about Monday and Tuesday:
MONDAY AND TUESDAY...SYSTEM 3 IS SCHEDULED TO IMPACT THE NORTHLAND DURING THIS PERIOD AND IN A WORD IT LOOKS DANGEROUS. THIS SYSTEM IS COMING AT US FROM THE NORTHWEST WITH A VERY STRONG LOW LEVEL WIND FIELD( SOUTHWESTERLY AT 45 TO 60 KTS AT H7 ) OVER THE AREA MONDAY. THE BRUNT OF IT COMES IN MONDAY NIGHT WITH STRONG DYNAMICS... MOISTURE...CONTINUED WIND AND THEN THE H5 COLD POOL WITH -35C TEMPS COMING THROUGH TUESDAY...WITH SNOW LEVELS POSSIBLY BELOW 3000 FEET. THIS STORM IS STILL 5 DAYS OUT...AND MAY NOT BE AS STRONG AS CURRENTLY SHOWN. ALL ARE ENCOURAGED TO MONITOR THE LATEST NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FORECASTS.
