All rain for town with the Turkey-day Storm. Received about 3/4″ of rain at my house. The National Weather service is reporting about the same. The Snowbowl’s website seems to point at Friday afternoon being the next time someone will be up there. KAZFLAGSS22 shows about 2/3″ of rain. So, a good storm for the area, but maybe not as wet as hoped by some.
Several sites, wunderground, accuweather and nws all indicate the chance for a storm about 1 week out. Unfortunately, no storms are showing up in the GFS or NOGAPS models from the Navy. Hopefully, the storms will continue to breakdown the coastal high pressure and draw moisture up from the south, the way the most recent storm did.
But, now it looks to be over. Seems like a stunning rerun of last year. Thanksgiving will spell the end of our recent dry spell.
Tropical moisture is going to combine with two storms over the next few days. It could start as early as Tuesday and go through early next week. Storms rarely last that long. Probably Wednesday to Sunday.
This represents a signficant shift in our pattern. The question becomes will it last?
Looks like at least two rounds. One on Tuesday, One on Thanksgiving. Still early. Change is likely.
Well, more models are heading toward precip and cooler temps around the Thanksgiving timeframe. The high pressure appears to be heading toward breaking down.
Also, the water temps off the California Coast are moderating. this can free up moisture for us.
Looks like high pressure is going to stick around for quite a while. The only variables on the horizon are wind and temperature. No sign of precip for the next 7 days.
But wait! Accuweather, which rarely forecasts any precipitation for Northern Arizona, has been keeping cold weather with snow or ice in forecasts beyond next Monday. Check it out here: Flagstaff Accuweather Forecast 6-10 days
The models do show the persistent high pressure system slowly breaking down. This would allow the jet stream to slip farther south. Colder, wetter weather could be due on Thanksgiving.
Dr. Hansen is the original Global Warming Alarmist. His debunked hockey stick graph is Al Gore’s mainstay.
Once again, he has been found to be using flawed data. Without good data and scientific questioning, the truth about global climate will never be learned.
Flawed October Temperature Data
Check out this document from 1933 on warming trends. Very interesting view point.

It was flaming red just before i grabbed my camera this morning(11-9-08). (I published this one late. Forgot and left it hanging in draft.

Well, wasn’t October just beautiful. Count your blessings. We were about the only place it was. Idaho and parts of the East, as well as London, UK had one of their earliest recorded snowfalls, ever. Check out this map of the US for October:

Not quite the picture the Alarmists would want to get out. Still, for Arizona we came out ahead for warmth and a little dry. I don’t think we had any record highs in Flagstaff, but we had two occassions with record or near-record cold. Count your blessings. Here is another pic of how the year has gone in the US:

Both Images are from NOAA. Flagstaff comes in near normal. Brrr for the rest of the country.
Not really winter weather, but it should continue. I don’t see anything, precip wise, out to at least 10 days. Tonight or this weekend I’ll post some stuff about October. Compared to elsewhere, we had it pretty nice!!!
